Hello again!!!
It's currently monday night here in Maui! It is 8:29pm as I am writing this, sitting at the kitchen table in the Airbnb that my family is staying in! It's pretty nice! It's on the third story, and it has the kitchen and living room on the first floor, with the first bedroom just around the corner from the main entry, and then the master bedroom up a flight of stairs.
We've had lots of fun so far! We came in on Saturday. We woke up around 4:30am to finish our last minute packing of all of our gadgets, chargers, and bathroom stuffs, and then drove to the airport, which got recently freshly remodeled. Then a six hour flight in an Airbus A321-neo from PDX to OGG in Maui. We got some food and drove around for a little bit before checking in at the Airbnb, and then heading back out for some dinner.
Yesterday (sunday), we slept in for a little bit, and then we loaded up the rental car with Tommy Bahama backpack chairs to drive down the road a bit to a beach, and then we all swam in the ocean for a little bit, with a break in between for a quick nap :). We definitely did not get knocked out multiple times by waves that were taller than us, but it was fun! We then did a little bit of christmas shopping for all of us! We all had to buy eachother a gift, but we did it so that each gift was no more than $25. My mom made a few little bags made out of thrifted hawaiian shirts, and we put them all in those bags to open on Christmas morning! We all called it an early night to wake up early today!
We woke up today (monday) pretty early for our trip on the "Road to Hana"! We got on the road around 7am, and got back around 5:45pm. If I remember to upload some images from my phone ill add them here. :3 But it was a long winding road that got narrow quite a few times, and there were some locals that would come up quick behind you and you would have to move to the side of the road pretty quickly so that they could overtake you. Once we made it to Hana, we grabbed some food from one of the food trucks there, and headed back to Waianapanapa Black Sands beach. From what I experienced, it was more tiny black pebbles than fine black sand, but it was still nice! The officials said that it was reccomended not to swim because the waters were so rough, but there were lots of people taking a quick dip in the ocean anyways. There were actually a couple of teenage boys that were jumping from the rocks into the ocean. My parents made conversation with a few people there, and we met a family from Miami, Florida, and they were very nice and funny people! :) We started our way back, made a quick stop at a roadside Arboretum before it quickly decided to dump rain on us, and continued on our way. Once we finally rolled back into the airbnb, we made a few "cheese crisps", and called it a night.
Tomorrow is supposed to be a pretty chill day as well, but we'll see what happens! Then Wednesday is officially christmas! I'll maybe make another appearance here either Wednesday night, or Thursday night maybe while we are waiting at the gate for the flight home. Bye for now!
